Designing Quality Statistics Courses: A Data-Driven Approach Using GAISE and Process Improvement Tools
Developing an effective college-level statistics course requires more than just selecting topics and textbooks—it demands a structured, data-informed approach that considers stakeholder needs, critical success factors, and continuous improvement. This presentation will integrate process improvement methodologies with GAISE (Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education) to create student-centred and industry-relevant statistics courses. Stakeholder analysis, CTQ (Critical-to-Quality) characteristics, and process mapping can be used to identify strengths, gaps, and actionable strategies for course design.
