Mini-conference on Noncommutative Geometry, the Local Index Formula and Hopf Algebras

Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24, 25, 2004,
held at Fields Institute in Toronto

Organizers:
Nigel Higson (Penn State)
Masoud Khalkhali (Western Ontario)
Boris Tsygan (Northwestern)

This mini-conference will aim to reconcile two quite different approaches to index theory in noncommutative geometry: the Connes-Moscovici local index formula, and the Nest-Tamarkin- Tsygan approach via deformation quantization. Emerging connections with Hopf algebras and Hopf-cyclic cohomology will be addressed as well.
