This course is intended for teacher candidates who are planning to write the Math Proficiency Test (MPT) in Ontario. It is designed to hone math skills and increase confidence with mathematics.
Description
This 4-day intensive course will help hone your mathematics skills and increase your confidence with mathematics. It takes place online over 4 evenings and you will also be required to view additional video content prior to each lesson. Please ensure you will have sufficient time each day to view this content (approximately 1 - 2 hours). Some of this pre-content will also be available prior to the start of the course.
This course is designed to help educators required to take the Ontario Mathematics Proficiency Test to build their math skills and knowledge.
Course fee: $300.00
The course will cover topics including:
- operations with decimals, fractions, and integers
- measurement and geometry
- algebra and linear relations
- probability and stats.
While content is based around the practice tests made available by the EQAO, this course will not just be 'tips and tricks' on how to answer the questions, but will focus on building knowledge and understanding of the math concepts that you can take into your classroom. The structure will be a combination of instructor lead lessons and worked examples, small group discussions, and independent practice. Preparation work prior to each lesson will be required and all materials will be provided. You will also have access to materials after the class ends.
