Application deadlines are March 15 and September 15 each year.
Organizers are advised that a lead time of several years may be
required. The Fields Institute solicits proposals for a variety
of programs in areas of current research interest in the mathematical
sciences: (1) Major thematic programs, six months in length. (2)
Thematic or focus programs, from one to two months in length to
run concurrently with our major thematic programs; we are interested,
in particular, in two-month summer programs of an interdisciplinary
nature. Please see the Thematic and
Focus Program Proposals page.
Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Fellowship positions.
The Fields Institute's Postdoctoral Fellowships provide for a period
of research activity at the Institute and participation in our programs.
They require no teaching, but Fellows may teach at most course per
semester at a partner university for an additional stipend. We currently
offer three kinds of Postdoctoral Fellowship. Please see our Postdoctoral
Fellowship page for information on how to apply.
General scientific activities in the mathematical sciences supported
by the Fields Institute include workshops, conferences, seminars,
and summer schools. Proposals should be submitted by October 15,
February 15 or June 15 of each year. Decisions are announced shortly
afterwards, except in the case of proposals requesting support over
$20,000. The latter are considered by the Scientific Advisory Panel
and decisions are announced by early December or June for proposals
submitted by the preceeding June or February deadlines (respectively).
A lead time for proposals of at least one year is recommended. Proposals
will be considered at other times as funds permit.
If you are considering a proposal either for a Thematic or Focus
Program or for General Scientific Activity, we recommend that you
contact the Director (director@fields.utoronto.ca)
or Deputy Director (deputydirector@fields.utoronto.ca).
*Note on diversity. In proposing any activity, applicants
are requested to consider the mandate of the Institute to broaden
and enlarge the community. Applicants should address the representation
of women and members of visible minorities in the proposed activity,
and should ensure that participants include scientists representing
a range of career levels, types of institutions and geographical
locations in Canada and abroad.More

The Fields Institute occasionally provides support for projects
whose goal is to promote mathematical culture at all levels and
bring mathematics to a wider audience. Faculty at Fields sponsoring
universities or affiliates considering organizing such an activity
and seeking Fields Institute support are invited to submit a proposal
to the Fields Outreach Competition. More
details.
Applications are invited to be a visiting member at the Fields
Institute. While a member at the Institute, it is expected that
you will carry out your own research, participate in the activities
related to your interests and collaborate with other visiting members.More
