Deadlines for letters of intent and proposals for semester or year-long
programs at the Fields Institute are March 15 and August 31 each
year. Organizers are advised that a lead time of several years is
required, and are encouraged to submit a letter of intent prior
to preparing a complete proposal. They may consult the directorate
about their projects in advance to help structure their proposal.
*A note on diversity. In proposing any activity, applicants are
requested to consider the mandate of the Institute to broaden and
enlarge the community. Applicants should explain how they plan to
include women and members of visible minority groups in the proposed
activity. As well, they should ensure that the proposed participant
lists include scientists representing a range of career levels,
types of institutions and geographical locations in Canada and abroad.
Proposals for short scientific events in the mathematical sciences
should be submitted by October 15, February 15 and June 15 of each
year and decisions will be announced November 30, March 31 and August
1. A lead time of at least one year recommended.
NOTE For events requesting over $20,000 which are considered by
the Scientific Advisory Panel, decisions for these proposals will
be announced November 30 or May 31.
Proposals will be considered at other times as funds permit. Activities
supported include workshops, conferences, seminars, and summer schools.
If you are considering a proposal, we recommend that you contact
the Director (director@fields.utoronto.ca)
or Deputy Director (deputydirector@fields.utoronto.ca).

CRM, the Fields Institute, and PIMS invite nominations for this
joint prize in recognition of exceptional achievement in the mathematical
sciences. The candidate's research should have been conducted primarily
in Canada or in affiliation with a Canadian university. The main
selection criterion is excellence in research.
Nominations for the CRM-Fields-PIMS Prize should be received by
November 1, for the next year's prize.
The Fields Institute Coxeter
Lecture Series (CLS), the Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS),
and the Distinguished Lecture
Series in Statistical Science (DLSS) are intended to bring a
leading international mathematician in the field of the thematic
program of the Institute to give a series of three lectures. Information
on previous lecturers and their presentations is available in the

The Fields Institute is soliciting nominations for Fields Institute
Fellows. These are awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions
to the Fields Institute and its activities.
Applications are invited for postdoctoral fellowship positions
for the upcoming academic year. For details of upcoming Programs
and the application requirements please click
here.
Qualified candidates who have recently completed a PhD in a related
area of the mathematical sciences are encouraged to apply. The fellowships
provide for a period of at least one year of engagement in research
and participation in the activities of the Institute. They may be
offered in conjunction with partner universities, through which
a second year of support may be possible. One recipient will be
awarded the institute's prestigious Jerrold E. Marsden Postdoctoral
Fellowship. Applicants seeking postdoctoral fellowships funded by
other agencies (such as NSERC or international fellowships) are
encouraged to request the Fields Institute as their proposed location
of tenure, and should apply to the address below for a letter of
invitation.
Applications are encouraged from all qualified candidates,
particularly women, aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities
and members of visible minorities .
Postdoctoral fellowships are also available at some of the Fields
Institute's sponsoring universities. For further information please
consult the following link(s):
Applications are invited to be a visiting member at the Fields
Institute. While a member at the Institute, it is expected that
you will carry out your own research, participate in the activities
related to your interests and collaborate with other visiting members.
This program supports individuals with high potential to re-enter
an active research career after an interruption for family responsibilities.
To qualify, candidates must have been in a postdoctoral or faculty
position at the time their active research career was interrupted.
The duration of the career interruption should be at least one year
and no more than eight years. Examples of qualifying interruptions
include a complete or partial hiatus from research activities for
child rearing; an incapacitating illness or injury of the candidate,
spouse, partner, or a member of the immediate family; or relocation
