14) Gender Equity in Grant Awards: NSERC & NSF

Equity in the distribution of grants is a concern for granting agencies as well as recipients. There is evidence that unconscious bias exists among both male and female reviewers, and that this results in a lower success rate for women. Isabelle Blain, Vice-President of NSERC, and Mary-Ann Horn, Mathematical Biology Program Director at NSF, will be present to discuss the issue and the approach each agency is taking. These presentation will be followed by a question period.
