Applications
are invited for Postdoctoral Fellowship positions. The Fields
Institute's Postdoctoral Fellowships provide for a period
of research activity at the Institute and participation in
our programs. They require no teaching, but Fellows may teach
at most course per semester at a partner university for an
additional stipend. We currently offer four kinds of Postdoctoral
Fellowship.
The
Fields Institute is committed to diversity and welcomes applications
from women, members of First Nations or visible minorities,
persons with disabilities, members of sexual minority groups,
and others who may contribute to the diversity of ideas. If
you would like to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowhsip for
Thematic Programs please use one of the links below and indicate
the program on your cover sheet.
1.
Fields Postdoctoral Fellowships
Six-month Fields Postdoctoral Fellowships with a stipend of
$20,000. These Fellowships are awarded for participation in
one of our Major Thematic Programs, and there are typically
six or seven for each program. They may be offered in conjunction
with an Affiliate
or Principal Sponsoring university, through which a further
period of support may be possible. Please indicate on the
cover sheet of your application the program in which you are
interested, and include the names of faculty members at partner
universities who may be appropriate as supervisors. (You are
encouraged to apply directly to these other institutions as
well. If you do not wish your application to be shared with
a partner university, please note this in your letter of application.)
2.
Jerrold E. Marsden Postdoctoral Fellowships
One of the six-month Postdoctoral Fellows associated to each
of our Major Thematic Programs will be awarded the Institute's
prestigious Jerrold E. Marsden Postdoctoral Fellowship. This
Fellowship provides a stipend of $25,000 plus a $1000 research
grant to be used during the tenure of the award. Conditions
are otherwise as in 2 above.
Applicants
seeking postdoctoral fellowships funded by other agencies
(such as NSERC or international fellowships) are encouraged
to request the Fields Institute as their proposed location
of tenure, and should apply to the Institute for a letter
of invitation.
Marsden Postdoctoral Fellows
3.
Fields-Ontario Postdoctoral Fellowships (FOPDFs).
FOPDFs are two-year fellowships with a stipend of $50,000
per year. Either four or five FOPDFs are awarded each year.
These prestigious Fellowships involve a six-month semester
at the Fields Institute for participation in one of our Major
Thematic Programs, and eighteen months (before or after the
Program) at one or more of our Principal Sponsoring Universities
(PSUs). An FOPDF may be renewable for a third year. An FOPDF
has no teaching requirement, but fellows are permitted to
teach a single one-semester course per year for an extra stipend.
Please indicate on the cover sheet of your application the
program in which you are interested, and include the names
of faculty members at PSUs who may be appropriate as supervisors.
The Fields
PSUs are: Carleton University, McMaster University, the
University of Ottawa, the University of Toronto, the University
of Waterloo, the University of Western Ontario, and York University.

Fields-Perimeter Africa Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences
and Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics invite applications
for a new one-year joint postdoctoral fellowship.
This fellowship is a unique position intended for new
and recent PhDs who are African Nationals working in the areas
of mathematical sciences or fundamental theoretical physics.
While research interests for the selected fellow may dictate
either Perimeter or Fields as a home institute, they will
be encouraged to spend time at both institutes. We welcome
candidates to apply before April 19, 2013, however applications
will be considered until this position is filled.
