Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) and Simulation-Based Engineering Sciences (SBES) fuse knowledge and methods of science and engineering with those of computer science and mathematics. This entails research focused on modelling and simulation of highly complex systems to produce results with pre-set levels of accuracy along with uncertainty estimates to support decision making about the technical, social and health consequences of our society. This conference will focus on Verification and Validation (error estimation, mesh adaption, uncertainty quantification), and High-Performance Algorithms.

Specific subjects and potential sessions

-    Meshes, geometrical and numerical error

-    Error estimation and accuracy of numerical solutions

-    Assessment of the efficiency of numerical methods

-    Verification and validation of numerical solutions

-    Uncertainty quantification in numerical models

The workshop presents a rare opportunity, especially at the Canadian level, to gather 50-60 specialists, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students with a diversity of background covering CSE and SBES. The workshop will also offer a unique opportunity for the next generation of researchers in these areas to network, present their work and be exposed to the most recent research.
